- We're super stoked to have had the opportunity to film and publish our first ever documentary based in Melbourne, Australia!
This is Lulu & me Cheesecakes, a one-of-a-kind dessert spot where the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by Michael Diamandis, along with talented pastry chef duo Dilu and Jini Kulathungam and their whole team of hospitable chefs. This charming bakery offers an experience like no other, complete with an open kitchen where you can watch their expert bakers at work.
Lulu & Me specializes in a unique pay-by-weight concept for their famous Basque cheesecakes, available in flavours like traditional, pandan, chocolate layer, and even New York-style cheesecake. You can sample the cheesecakes before you decide on your perfect slice.
The bakery’s spacious and minimalist interior is home to only the essentials: baking equipment and a beautiful display cabinet featuring a custom copper light fixture designed by the founder’s father. This all serves to give space for conversation, community, and connection with one another; no chairs, no tables, just good old fashion dance floor vibes.

Totally! Good choices all round
I know both if them personally. Served them coffee for almost a year while I worked at a cafe in South Melbourne Market. The loveliest people!!
Awesome to hear!!
lol nice lie haha
@@god-g4z why would it be a lie? Which bit of it seems incompatible with the truth? lol nice assumption haha
Good coffee and good cheesecake I don't need that much more to live a happy live
We have a concept of medicinal cheesecake in our family......its for days where everything goes wrong and the world seems terrible to you, we go and have a piece of cheesecake to brighten the day. Its a treat for the really terrible times and not just a bad day so the cheesecake is always seen as an extra special treat.
I love that idea.. cheesecakes only on really bad days. Love it
📙THE GOSPEL OF THE WORD OF ALMIGHTY GOD "the last age is the Age of the Kingdom or Word that Christ brought to purify man"
Only Those Who Have Experienced God's WORK Really Believe in God
Almighty God said
Although many people believe in God, few understand what the MEANING of FAITH in GOD is WHAT they MUST DO to FOLLOW GOD'S HEART. This is because, ALTHOUGH people KNOW very well the WORD "God" and phrases like "the work of God," "they DO NOT KNOW GOD, much less do they KNOW His WORK.🙏
No wonder, then, that all those who do not know God hold a confused belief. People are not serious about their belief in God because belief in God is too unknown, too strange for them. In this way, they cannot meet God's demands. In other words, then they are not fit for God's use, much less can they fulfill God's will. "Belief in God" MEANS BELIEF that God exists; this is the simplest understanding of faith in God. 🔴
Additionally, BELIEVING THERE IS A GOD IS NOT THE SAME AS TRUE BELIEF in GOD; BUT, this is a KIND OF SIMPLE FAITH with STRONG RELIGIOUS MEANINGS. TRUE FAITH in GOD MEANS EXPERIENCE the WORDS and ACTIONS of GOD based on a BELIEF that GOD has the HAND of POWER over ALL THINGS. That way you will be FREED from your BAD DISPOSITION, WILL FULFILL what GOD desires and KNOW God. Only THROUGH such a journey can you be said to believe in God. However, people often see belief in God as something very simple and insignificant. The belief of such people is meaningless and will never gain God's approval, because they are walking the wrong path.
Today, there are still those who believe in God through letters, in empty doctrines. They did not realize that their belief in God had no substance and that they could not gain God's approval and yet they prayed for peace and sufficient grace from God. We must stop and ask ourselves: Could believing in God really be the easiest thing on earth? Does believing in God only mean receiving many graces from God? 🔴
Can people who believe in God but do not know Him, and believe in God but oppose Him, really be able to fulfill what God desires?
GOD and MAN CANNOT be said to be equal. His substance and His work are the most unfathomable and unfathomable to man. 🙏
IF GOD DOESN'T FORGIVELY DO HIS WORK and SPEAK HIS WORDS in the WORLD of man, then man will never understand the WILL of GOD, and thus, even those who dedicate their whole lives to God will not may attain Hisconsent. Without God's work, no matter how good man does, it will be ignored, because GOD'S THOUGHTS will ALWAYS be HIGHER than man's thoughts, and GOD'S WISDOM IS NOT. HUMAN BEINGS. And so I say those who "read" GOD and His WORK are useless, they are all arrogant and ignorant. Man should not interpret God's work; moreover, man cannot interpret God's work. In God's eyes, man is lesser than an ant, so how can man dig into God's work?
Those who keep saying, "God doesn't work this way or that way" or "God is this way or that way"----aren't they all arrogant? 🙏
We MUST ALL KNOW that PEOPLE, who are of the FLESH, are ALL CORRUPTED BY SATAN. It is their nature to oppose God, and they are not equal to God, much less can they offer advice for God's work. HOW GOD GUIDES PEOPLE IS TO BE DONE BY GOD HIMSELF. 🔴🙏
MAN SHOULD BE SUBJECTED, and should not have such and such a view, ALTHOUGH MAN is only DUST. Since we are trying to find God, we should not single out our understanding of God's work for God's consideration, much less should we use our evil dispositions to deliberately try to oppose God's work. Wouldn't that make us ANTICHRISTS? HOW can such people say they believe in God? Since we believe that there is a God, and since we desire to satisfy----Him and SEE Him, we MUST FIND THE WAY OF TRUTH, and MUST FIND a way to be ACCORDING to God. We should not persist in opposing God, what good can such actions produce? 🙏
From "The WORD Appears in the Flesh" holy book
This prophecy was given actual meaning in (John 1:1,14 The Word / The Word Became Man). "When he began the Word, the Word was with God, and the Word was God." ..
"The word became man and He dwelt among us. ... (Revelation 18:9,13)
The "Savior" came already in 1991 like a thief, so He prepared us then to be like those waiting for the return of his Lord so that when he comes and "knocks" we can immediately open the door. He came to "save" us by purifying with His Word the kingdom He brought down to earth with His holy name and His totality engraved on, "THE CHURCH OF ALMIGHTY GOD" 💐 This is the fulfillment of "The Letter to the Church of Philadelphia" (Revelation 3:12)"The one who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he will not be removed from it forever. I will engrave on him the NAME of my God, and the name of the CITY of my God, the NEW JERUSALEM that will come down from HEAVEN to My God. I will also engrave my NEW NAME on him." ... And in (Matthew 16:18-19) "And I say to you, you are Peter, and UNDER this rock I will BUILD my CHURCH, and not the power of death will prevail over him. I will give YOU the KEY to the kingdom of heaven: what you forbid on earth you will forbid in heaven and what you allow on earth it will be allowed in heaven." ... The fulfillment of His return is everything recorded in the great book of Revelation (such as these important ones, The Seals, The Bowls of God's Wrath, The Millennium, and The New Heavens and New Earth.) This is the beginning of A Thousand Years of Gathering Spirits that have becomeperfect because of His Word, and the beginning of the 144,000 (Revelation 14:3-4) "The Song of the Redeemed") from the twelve tribes of Israel who faithfully serve the Lamb, the first offerings until the number of 200,000,000 became perfect. (Revelation 6:10-11 and 9:16 "The Seals"). ... Because the Lamb in the middle of the THRONE will be their PASTOR .... (Revelation 7:17)💐

How's the cholesterol going?
I tend to eat cheesecake when I’m not feeling well
This is why I love living in Melbourne. Always such good food and culture.
Wholesome right!? :)
Lucky
Great storytelling. Thank god innovation and creativity is still alive in Australia.
I did a little math, and they seem to be pulling in $50k a month out of that location. Their net might be $20k ish, which makes this a pretty decent $250k annual take home business if they don't expand or do wholesale stuff. Amazing concept.
Good math! :) do you work in hospo?
@@StoryBites. I have worked, but I have a friend who owns a cheesecake company and I sent him this video, haha. Great work StoryBites!
if they're making that much why dont they reduce the price and make it affordable
Just Melbourne hipsters getting obsessed, like Lune - take like a croissant.
@@noahlenten8360that's only the revenue. That doesn't include rent, wages, material costs or machinery costs. Not to mention, if they reduce the price they have to sell more to make the same revenue which may be infeasible without scaling up the operation
“Not a fan of cheesecakes” but now feels like should add a “Yet” to the assumptious statement as it feels unfair to decide without having tasted the BEST….definitely stopping by if I visit Melbourne someday (thanks to StoryBites for bringing us this yumilicious-looking ‘bites’ story)…also, just had to mention-I love how they scrape off the remaining cheesecake from the knife and spatula (giving everything one’ paying for:)
I love this story so much. I grew up in Melbourne and I miss the food more than I could ever explain! I wish these guys all the success and I know that Melbournians are very good at supporting their local businesses. What I would give to try their cheesecake 🫶

My mums cheesecake is so delicious you wouldn’t hear anyone ever complaining that she still had half a cake left over after the first serving.
I don’t think many realise how easy it is to cook. The first priority is having the right recipe.
Awh so good to hear!
whats the recipe plzzzzz
@ I can’t say as I’m going to enter it into a competition when I get time but after many attempts at making baked cheesecakes and finally asking her for her recipe the biggest difference was that I hadn’t been using sweetened condensed milk as one of the ingredients.
Selling by weight is interesting, you can go a little larger and most will just accept and pay more. He did the in the video, sold a slice 20% larger than what he said was a typical slice.

Im sorry-- are yall kidding me? at 4:20 - the KG chocolate layered cheesecake is 69,90? that slice cost 8,67?? i can get a pound of cheese cake here in Germany for that from our local bakery
Heya Joshua. Thanks for your comment. I think we need to be conscious of different costings of ingredients where we come from. It can vary greatly:)
Outrageous prices
@@StoryBites. Im aware, that the prices for food are much higher in NA than in the EU, but its cake. flour, milk, sugar and other ingrediences are not going to cost 10x as much as in Germany. the KG Price is ridiculous, but knowing about their opening hours, i can understand that the operation costs need to be squeezed into the KG price. Im not bashing the business, I just find the pricing ridiculous
Jeez there dear
Quality comes at a price.
yum
i might move in next door so i can have one every day
Hahah good idea
Congratulations ❤

How much per gram?
Great question, I think you’ll be able to find that info on their Instagram or website :)
Waiting for some overhead camera system that can read the calibrated distance between two knives and on a small display show in real time an approximation of the price as you widen, close the distance between, dependant on the type of product being cut.
I have no doubt there will be people wanting to enjoy but inwardly worried about the price based on where the knife falls....
Some way for the customers who are price conscious to have a degree of control for price and not just their eyes/appetite.
Nerds of youtube.... discuss and solve. (Will lead to other videos in other tech, finance, blogging etc if successful)
Or order by length.
A ruler with $ values... far less tech.
I did think of one of those bread slicing machines and depending on how thick the cut it shows a sliding scale for price....
Don't mind me everyone, just brainstorming here.
I'm not mad, but I do need to feed my cat now. And the 6 others that come by.
Wow, what an epic idea to implement that kind of technology into the consistency of the systems. We'd love to hear more about how to make this happen.
When the cut of the cake is the gimmick...... 😂
You reckon? :)
👍🤩💝I love that they’re using paper instead of plastic.🏆
🤔This is some straight up foolish over some cheesecake AT THOSE outrageous PRICES!
😫I don’t know why I’m so triggered by the way they’re scooping out the cheesecake like that.
🤔👍Oh well ride the wave as long as you can because sadly it’s not a scalable and won’t endure long term.
Such kind words. thank you so much for taking the time to recognise all details.
People lining up for cheesecake, then you have to have an awkward conversation with the owner while he slowly slices and wraps it 😂
It’s just cake people.
That’s true! It might seem a bit awkward, but those conversations can really add to the experience. People crave human connection, and sharing a moment-even over something as simple as cake-can make it more special. Plus, it’s a chance to learn more about the desserts and the story behind them!
