'Multiple slurp juices on a single ape' meme perfectly captures the stupidity of NFT culture

If I know anything to be true is this mixed-up world, it's that ape holders can absolutely use multiple slurp juices on a single ape. Any fool knows that. It's as simple as two plus two equals four. An ape holder can use multiple juices on a single ape; this is fact.

OK, so you might be lost. Let's take a step back.

The account for Rarecandy tweeted on Wednesday about NFT apes. You know, the digital art things that people sometimes purchase for inordinate amounts of money. Rarecandy, which is an NFT marketplace, tweeted to inform people about how they could spend slurp juices to purchase apes. OK, I'm kind of losing myself here. What you really need to know is this is the text of that tweet. It read:

"a lotta yall still dont get it

ape holders can use multiple slurp juices on a single ape

so if you have 1 astro ape and 3 slurp juices you can create 3 new apes

Tonight's slurp juice mint event is essentially a minting event for both Lab Monkes and Special Forces"

And, before we go any further, let me just say: Ape holders can use multiple slurp juices on a single ape.

"Ape holders can use multiple slurp juices on a single ape" might just be the funniest, most nonsensical, and yet beautiful, jumble of words ever penned. Author J.R.R. Tolkien believed "cellar door" to be the most beautiful phrase in the English language. Surely he did not know that ape holders can use multiple slurp juices on a single ape. Hell, he died in 1973. It's 2022 and a lotta people still don't get it.

Quickly, the oddball phrase from Rarecandy turned into a meme on certain corners of the internet. It's a perfect way to joke about NFT and crypto culture, which people sell as the future of art and commerce and everything else while also saying things like "ape holders can use multiple slurp juices on a single ape."

I could sit here and further convince you how this meme is indicative of how NFTs are just one big bamboozle of suckers. Or make some bigger point about crypto culture. But honestly I'm just sitting here cackling at "ape holders can use multiple slurp juices on a single ape." It's important to me that you know that.

UPDATE: May. 6, 2022, 2:56 p.m. EDT As with many things on the internet, the meme has been Milkshake Duck'd. According to an update from BuzzFeed News, the account promoting the slurp juice "appears to be associated with another account that has posted extremist hate." We've removed all links and tweets of the account promoting the NFT in this story.
