Yo! It's that time of the month again where we load the gun with anime and hope to get something good in return.
For those who are new, in the monthly Roulette everyone submits an anime, the 1st day of the month every anime submitted gets randomised, and you end up having to watch the anime you received. You have two months (preferably one) to watch your anime or you'll end up penalised like me, so be careful. I advise to read the rules if it's your first time participating, everything's there.
And this is for everyone. Given the precedents I've decided that accounts with less than 40 completed anime that participate for the first time (as well as those which look fishy) are banned from entry unless I give them specific permission. It's unfair for those that genuinely want to participate, but there have been a lot of cases of low anime count users who drop or don't even start what they get. If you haven't watched a lot of anime but still want to participate, feel free to PM me and (at least for now) I'll probably let you participate.
0) Accounts with less than 40 completed anime that participate for the first time, as well as those which look fishy (at my own criteria) are banned from entry unless I give them specific permission. If you haven't watched a lot of anime but still want to participate, feel free to PM me and (at least for now) I'll probably let you in.
Anything you think is bad. This game is not to make people watch bad anime, but rather to give people anime to watch that they might not normally watch. I reserve the right to ban an anime from entry if I suspect that the person submitting it is trolling and ask them to use a substitute (this is not directly related to whether I think the anime in question is good or bad).
Anything from the two previous editions of the roulette (or already nominated in the current one).
Anything longer than 30 episodes, assuming normal runtime. Longer anime might be okay if they're shorts, and shorter might not be okay if they're longer than normal. Just calculate 12 hours and see if it's longer (or not). You can't submit multiple anime because your anime is much shorter than that.
Anything shorter than 1 hour. People in this roulette have 1 month to watch something, and it should be at least minimally long.
2) You must watch your anime within 2 months. The ideal is 1 month, but I know sometimes one just doesn't have the time to finish it, so you have 1 extra month without penalties.
To be able to nominate for the next roulette, you need to have watched at least 50% + 1 episodes from the last Roulette and have no active penalties. I'll invalidate your submission if at the time I randomize you don't meet these conditions. I'll look them up in your list, so you should keep it updated. If I noticed that you didn't meet that criteria but you changed the episodes watched at some point to deceive me, I'll penalize accordingly.
3) You can submit a substitute anime in case yours has been started by a minimum of either 25% or 3 participants. If you add an anime that everyone else in the roulette already has seen, I'll put that entry on a 5 months cooldown and use the substitute, if there's any. If there's not, or your substitute has the same problem, I'll pick a random anime from your 20th percentile of your ratings (I may change that number in the future, I've never worked with percentiles before). If your mean score is higher than 8, I'll add a layer of personal opinion to that randomization and re-randomize if I don't think the anime is good enough, regardless of the score. If your mean score is between 3 and 4.5, I'll randomize with everything higher than your mean score and add the same layer of personal opinion. If your mean score is lower than 3, I'll do the same thing with every anime in your list.
4) I reserve the right to change these rules at any time. I'm not perfect, don't try to abuse the rules just because I missed something. In any case, I will try not to apply rules retroactively if they don't benefit users, unless there's something blatant.
Penalizations
Penalizations are in effective the month you drop your anime. You have 2 months to watch your anime, and after that time your anime will be considered dropped. Dropped anime will get the maximum penalty according to how much of it you watched before dropping. If you don't declare your anime dropped, you will get penalized with the maximum penalty according to how many episodes you watched. If you finish your anime, your penalty will be reduced to the minimum (according to how many episodes you watched in time).
You can also declare your anime dropped during the month you got your anime instead of waiting for the time to run out. If you do that, you'll get the penalisation according to how many episodes you watched before dropping. If you do that, you cannot pick the anime again and reduce the penalty time that way (technically you can pick it up again, but it won't reduce it either way).
Minimum penaly
Penalization depends on how many episodes you watched in time. Numbers are rounded down.
(50% + 1) to (100% - 1) --> 1 month.
(1) to (50%) --> 2 months.
Not started --> 3 months.
Dropped
Penalization depends on how many episodes you watched in time. Numbers are rounded down.
(50% + 1) to (100% - 1) --> 2 months.
(33% + 1) to (50%) --> 3 months.
(1) to (33%) --> 4 months.
Not started --> 5 months.
Penalization time is long, and sometimes you get something that you really cannot stand. You have the choice to say you don't want an anime (it's explained later in this post), although it's not unlimited if you haven't read/watched/played/whatever the source material or an adaptation. For situations like this, there is a points system. Every time you watch your anime in 1 month, you will get 1 point, which can be exchanged for 1 month of penalization when applicable (you need to tell me how you want to spend your points, I won't tell you to do that). I will not display current points for everyone, although I'll keep the count. If you want to know how many points you have at any given time you can ask me. This is a test rule, and it may be changed if deemed necessary.
Lastly, there are cases when someone can have more than one anime to watch. The most common by far is starting a new roulette before finishing the last roulette's anime, and not completing any of them. In those cases, every single anime has its own penalisation with its own expiration date. That means that reducing one penalization (via points or via completing it) leaves the other one(s) active.
I'll start randomizing on the 1st of May, so make sure to submit your anime before that day. Once randomized, you will know what anime you have to watch, and you should watch it before the month ends.
You can't submit the first 50 anime in this list (at the time you did your submission):
If you have watched the source of an anime and you don't want to watch the adaptation, or if you have strong feelings of animosity against it (you have to say why, and I won't accept the likes of "I don't like the genre" as an excuse. I'll definitely keep in mind if you systematically try to avoid anime for no evident reason), please SAY SO before the randomization starts. To say that, if you watched the source you don't need any specific format, but if you have other reason (strong feelings of animosity) you have to stress that you do not want the anime by either bolding or underlining the not. Once everyone gets their anime, the only reclamation I'll accept is that you already have your anime in your list or that you already told me that you didn't want it in a proper way.

I think we'll be starting a new roulette rather than continue this one. It's prolly best to ask @Conde_Mohr about this since I was just filling in for him this roulette.

@jimanator I'll copy what I wrote in the other thread:
Conde_Mohr said: So, theoretically speaking, I should be able to host a new Roulette, but accessing it without saving the page would be impossible. You would need to be pretty interested if you want them now. Alternatively, clubs have been announced for next week, and both @Mikochondria and I would be available (neither of us will be home for the next week). Comment on what you want to do
