(I have an IT degree and am overqualified in artsy electives.) To be qualified as ART a work must have a theme and at least one subtheme. If I told an unbiased observer that a story had pursuit, hunt, capture, escape, evasion and led to a suspenseful ending where the hunted and hunter had a final confrontation and resolution, he would say the theme was ADVENTURE. If I told him there were naked people and sex in almost every scene he would say the theme was EROTICA and the subtheme was ADVENTURE.
