Seriously? I haven't seen any episodes of this but from what I've heard it's a rip off of One Piece. It seems to have some fans but even they seem to believe that it's story is lacking. So what's going on here? Is it simply because Naruto's been rated by double the viewers? Keep in mind, I don't consider Naruto god's gift to earth or anything like that. It's a solid 8 anime to me with One Piece being close to a 9 . I'm not trying to troll or anything, I just compared the scores for the two and was wildly confused. |

Well don't go calling it a ripoff of one piece, you will get a lot of complaints and no answers. I like the anime, the story feels lacking to me and some of the characters are really annoying but it's still enjoyable. But for other people I think it is because of Fairy tails length, it's only like 150 episodes long so people don't feel intimidated by the size. Everything goes faster, fights and arcs are pretty short, they have a lot of characters with all different kinds of magic. Has less fillers than the rest of the shounen series, though they just started a big filler arc, so it will probably have more, maybe the same as some of the other shounens by the time it is their size. So basically also for those reasons and some others, a lot of people rate Naruto not that high, and rate Fairy Tail higher. Also it's not as popular, that's a reason why some people rate some anime high or low. |

i like the anime ... watch the anime, get an own opinion and then judge about the Anime or whine about the score. Some Charackters are very similary to OP but they still have their own unique personality and they are not an 1:1 rip off. |

Naruto was a 9/10 for me when it first started. Zabuza fight, Gaara fight, etc all awesome. Had a few random fillers, but it wasn't too bad since they were sporatic. Then they made seasons 4 and 5...basically all filler. Yeah they were giving some minor characters some extra screen time, but seriously, seeing Naruto throw rasengans over and over and over again...just no. If those fillers had no Naruto and just the minor character (or team) of the week, it might have been more watchable...but alas. Also that SLOW pace...just...kill me. My profile says I completed Naruto...but I admit it's a lie...I wasn't able to watch every filler episode I haven't watched fairy tail but I assume it has not had 2 full seasons of fillers yet. |

Fairy Tail has a high rating because the plot is continuous and outside of the few filler arcs has been pretty consistant about not having any plot holes or inconsistancies, which is rare in the world of shounen. Also, Fairy Tail has more appeal to a female audience than One Piece or Naruto, thereby expanding it's potential viewer base. This is why I personally like it better than the other shounen. There's also the factor that Naruto is about ninjas, One Piece is about Pirates, Bleach is about Samurai (essentially) and Fairy Tail is about Wizards. People may choose one they like based on those elements and quite frankly, they're more wizard-like in Fairy Tail than the ninjas are ninja-like in Naruto. |

A lot of interesting opinions. I'll admit that if I watched this show I'd probably like it due to the fact that I'm a fan of shounen and one thing I hear is that this show does it well. The thing is though, I've heard more negative than positive about this show. Ignoring all of the complaints involving One Piece, stuff like no blood, strays from the manga from time to time, main characters is OP and gets further powered up out of nowhere and finally a general lack of purpose. The fact that after all of that Fairy Tail is still rated high has me intrigued. @futaro I feel your pain. I actually think the first part was better than shippuden in a way since the story was simpler and things weren't trying so hard to be complicated like now. I actually sat through most of the fillers at the time since they were on cartoon network and I didn't really know they were fillers. Like any show with fillers, there were some good ones but most of them just sucked. In other words if this show lacks them then that sounds like a good reason for the rating. One Piece doesn't have too many fillers and a lot of the ones it does have are actually pretty interesting. |

Well it's not so much a rip-off off of OP. I mean generally every shounen has similar features but the only difference is though that the guy that does FT used to work on OP I believe so it does have that similar art feel and perhaps other qualities. That's why a lot of people who watch OP either love it or hate it. Basically a hit or miss. To say it is a rip-off though then I could just go off and say this shounen is a rip-off of this one and so on because most shounens do have that similar kind of progression just with a different story. I think FT is more highly rated though because as you guys have been saying Shippuden began strong but started to deteriorate in quality as time went on. Where as of right now Fairy Tail is still pretty new compared to the others and haven't exactly yet progress as far as the other big shounens have. So as of right now a lot of people rate it high because necessarily not much to really hate.(Not saying their isn't anything but it still is sort of new.) I mean most of long running shounens started off with pretty high scores but the score began to get lower as it went on. So who's to say that might or might not happen with FT. |

Another thing to keep in mind is that Naruto is VERY well known, and therefore has a lot of people that HATE it. I'm sure people add it to their list just to give it a low score. Fairy Tail doesn't yet have the same recognition as Naruto or the insane amount of unbelievably annoying fans that Naruto has. Not all Naruto fans are annoying of course, but I met a LOT at cons that were just some of most embarassing people on earth, thereby giving the show a bad rep. A lot of this probably has to do with the fact that it started on TV and that it's a show about ninjas, automatically making it a target for those kinds of fans. |

Though I am certainly not the biggest fan of this, I did have some expectations after reading the end of Groove adventure Rave. And I do think it is better than Naruto. A rip off of One Piece, I can see no big similarities for the two, both just have a strong shounen feel. inb4 fanboys getting mad |

No worries out of all the shounen kings at the moment the order remains. One piece > Hunter x hunter > Naruto > Fairy tail > bleach In terms of overall quality of story and consistency those are what remains. But for some reason Fairy Tail has a below average Anime budget compared to the others. Even though sales for it remain high the anime production is still pathetic in my opinion. It cant even bring out 75% of the feelings you from the manga. |

Z-flame said: Because the fans like the fanservice. Have you only read the manga, or have you watched the anime? Fairy Tail, compared to other shounen (at least early on), has much more fan service for GIRLS than for guys. The girl costumes are cute and well designed, there's Sailor Moon spoofs, Gray takes his clothes off, and it just has a lot of shoujo elements- mostly as a spoof, but it's enough that it starts to learn towards a larger female audience than your average shounen. This is why I personally like it a lot. It's girlier than the average shounen so I find myself enjoying far more than I can Naruto or any others, although I have a feeling I might enjoy One Piece because it's silly and warm like Fairy Tail. However, the costumes aren't nearly as cute and there aren't nearly as many girls. I know the manga, however, has a TON of fanservice as I flipped through it a bit. |

Uh no. Did you actually read what I said at all? I consider Narto an 8 and One Piece a 9. Never seen Gintama but it's got about a fifth the amount of raters that Naruto has so I imagine that has something to do with it. I was just wondering about this series specifically since I've heard a lot of negative about it. Anyways though, is the manga better because I'm actually looking for a new manga to read and if it's good I'd be willing to give it a try? |

Shounen animes with a lot of episodes like Naruto and Bleach is actually good at the start but it gets shittier as time goes by. Currently Fairy Tail is starting to become shit too, there's just so much plot armour. And the power of friendship shit to cover up for the plot armour is starting to get annoying. If the series will go on for another couple of hundred of episodes, its rating would surely drop. |

i guess it falls down to the less raters and not running for as long. i enjoy the series but i wouldnt say its amazing, im just glad i saw it before one piece. although they aren't really similar at all except for a couple of character designs thats all really. From what i hear fairy tail is really popular at the minute, i have also seen a load of haters saying how every single aspect of the show is total crap, people have discovered things to hate about the show that i dont even think the creator knew existed thats how much people look for things to hate xD |

How is this rated higher than Naruto? Because it is newer and a lot of people flocked to it since as a new shonen anime it didn't have as much filler as something like Naruto. The score will drop a bit the longer the show runs and people get pissed that filler arcs get made so the anime does not catch up with the manga. |

IMO, there more spread focus on the character's and the female's are not useless f*ck meats, compared to One Piece or Naruto. Naruto started off good up to Garaa arc, but slowly the story drips off its path and now we have DBZ rip off. Another appeal to Fairy Tail, has to be it's characters and development. 1- Because of romance. FairyTail unlike OP, Naruto & Bleach, has a lot of almost canon couples and that attracts girls to watch it. Actually IMO it has too many couples. Its a shounen but sometimes seems like a shoujo. 2- ERZA Undeniable one of the best/strongest female chara Ive ever seen in a show. In Naruto, OP and Bleach, their males are the strongest in their anime. Erza is the strongest in FT, not Natsu. at least, not yet. 99% of the time no one saves Erza, she saves herself and saves the others. She starts her fights with amazingness and ends her fights with extreme epicness. period. Just for her people raise the score, uohohoho! 3- Cats. A lot of them. For cat lovers is a must. /ends rant And well i think it must be because of that, ifs not, i actually dont care XD |

It also stays very true to the manga. My advice would be to watch it and make your own opinion. |
